Scouts of Norway are part of The Scout Organization recognized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement through the National Organization "The Guides and Scouts of Norway" (founded in 2003) which is a federation of several organizations such as Norwegian Guide and Scout Association and YWCA-YMCA Guides and
Scouts of Norway. In Norway, scouting began in 1922. Creating responsible citizens and also promoting the development of the youth in achieving their full intellectual, physical, social and spiritual potential is the goal of the
scouts of Norway. This can be achieved when they are given responsibility, when they think for themselves, work in teams and take risks. At the present there are around 18.818 scouts in this country.
Scouts of Norway are "trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent" as the scout law demands. Their mission is that of educating the youth so that it will play an active role in making the world a better place, thinking globally and acting locally and instilling values that will be carried further by the future
scouts of Norway.
