Scouts of Chile are part of The Association of Guides and Scouts of Chile that came to life in 1978 by combining the Asociacion de Scouts de Chile with the Asociacion de Guyas de Chile. In Chile, scouting began in 1909. It was he second Scout Association in the world and was directly influenced by Robert Baden-Powell. Creating responsible citizens and also promoting the development of the youth in achieving their full intellectual, physical, social and spiritual potential is the goal of the
scouts of Chile. This can be achieved when they are given responsibility, when they think for themselves, work in teams and take risks. At the present there are around 35.189 scouts in this country.
Scouts of Chile are "trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent" as the scout law demands. The
scouts of Chile program is mostly concerned with social projects such as assisting the poor children and providing them with food, clothes and help with schooling. Their mission is that of educating the youth so that it will play an active role in making the world a better place, thinking globally and acting locally and instilling values that will be carried further by the future
scouts of Chile.
