Scouts of Austria have multiple scout associations, among them the Boy Scouts and Girld Guides of Austria which is a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement and WAGGGS. In Austria, scouting began in 1912 with the first camps being held in 1913. There are nine geographical divisions of the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides of Austria, one for each state and every
scout of Austria wears the badge of his state on his uniform. Creating responsible citizens and also promoting the development of the youth in achieving their full intellectual, physical, social and spiritual potential is the goal of the
scouts of Austria. This can be achieved when they are given responsibility, when they think for themselves, work in teams and take risks. At the present there are around 10.768 scouts in this country.
Scouts of Austria are "trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent" as the scout law demands. Their mission is that of educating the youth so that it will play an active role in making the world a better place, thinking globally and acting locally and instilling values that will be carried further by the future
scouts of Austria.
