Scouts of Turkey are part of the Scouting and Guiding Federation of Turkey, a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement since 1950 and of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts since 1987. In Turkey, scouting began in 1909 and is attributed to the brothers Ahmet and Abdurrahman Robenson, two sports teachers.
Scouts of Turkey have three program sections as follows: cub scouts (8-11 years), scouts (12-15 years) and venturer scouts (16-20 years). Creating responsible citizens and also promoting the development of the youth in achieving their full intellectual, physical, social and spiritual potential is the goal of the
scouts of Turkey. This can be achieved when they are given responsibility, when they think for themselves, work in teams and take risks. At the present there are around 13.964 scouts in this country.
Scouts of Turkey are "trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent" as the scout law demands. Their mission is that of educating the youth so that it will play an active role in making the world a better place, thinking globally and acting locally and instilling values that will be carried further by the future
scouts of Turkey.
