Scouts of Denmark have around 10 different associations. The majority of these associations are members of two large federations but there are also some independent organizations. The organizations in Greenland, on the Faroe Islands and in Southern Schleswig are affiliated to Danish Scouting and Guiding. In Denmark, scouting began in 1909.
Scouts of Denmark were among the founders of WOSM and the Danish Guides among the founding members of WAGGGS. Creating responsible citizens and also promoting the development of the youth in achieving their full intellectual, physical, social and spiritual potential is the goal of the
scouts of Denmark. This can be achieved when they are given responsibility, when they think for themselves, work in teams and take risks. At the present there are around 44.590 scouts in this country.
Scouts of Denmark are "trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent" as the scout law demands. Their mission is that of educating the youth so that it will play an active role in making the world a better place, thinking globally and acting locally and instilling values that will be carried further by the future
scouts of Denmark.
